Sustainable Development Goals
SDGs Prevalent Focus Areas
We are not a single solution for all of the world's problems, but the Unify Cooperative does address the issues we have identified that impact our local area residents. From a global perspective we have identified the most common world issues being addressed by the United Nations. All 193 member states of the UN have adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means every recognized country in the world is working towards achieving these goals by 2030.
The SDGs initiative, also known as the 2030 Agenda was detailed by the United Nations in 2015, several of our affiliates were engaged in helping to create these goals in Geneva. The SDGs were immediately adopted by millions around the world to address some of the planet's most pressing issues. We selected four (4) of these seventeen (17) goals to focus on that affect our own community and form the basis behind our development as a community action group to help make positive global change. The SDGs were created with the aim of "peace and prosperity for people and the planet..." – while tackling climate change and working to preserve oceans and forests. The goals highlight the connections between the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainable development and serve us as a guideline.
